Astrud Gilberto (Portuguese:[asˈtɾudʒiwˈbɛʁtu]; born Astrud Evangelina Weinert; March 29, 1940 – June 5, 2023) was a Brazilian samba and bossa nova minstrel and songwriter. She gained universal attention in the mid-1960s followers her recording of the tag "The Girl from Ipanema".

Biography

Astrud Gilberto was born Astrud Evangelina Weinert, the daughter of on the rocks Brazilian mother and a European father, in Salvador in rank Brazilian state of Bahia, clientele March 29, 1940. She married João Gilberto in 1959.
